Magdala Staff

Magdala is managed by the Director, Michelle Wegwart. The Director has been the inspiration and driving force behind the formation and subsequent growth of the organisation.  She provides overall artistic vision and leadership, decision-making and planning of Magdala activities.

The Director is supported in all artistic and musical matters by the Artist-in-Residence, Tim Lole.
His appointment was initially made possible by the award of Arts Council England funding which enabled us to attract a musician of Tim’s calibre. The Artist in Residence has regular meetings with the Director to whom he is accountable for the execution of the artistic programme.

The third member of the core artistic team is Jane Robinson, a highly experienced and nationally recognised language and vocal coach, who makes a key contribution to many aspects of Magdala's work, not least in her role as a member of the Opera Start Education Workshop team.

Magdala employs an Administration Manager, Koren Harris, part-funded by Arts Council England. The Administration Manager is responsible for the day to day running of operations and for the daily management of financial affairs. She attends Board meetings and is accountable to the Director and Trustees.

Because the Director, Artist-in-Residence and other artistic associates carry out a wide range of professional engagements as freelance musicians they are self-employed, paid sessional fees by Magdala but not engaged as salaried employees. The only salaried employee at present is the Administrator.
