Current Sponsor - C J Upton & Sons

C J Upton & Sons kindly donated £5,000 to sponsor our Autumn Gala Concert which will was held at The Albert Hall, Nottingham on Saturday 30th October 2010. This was the main event in the Magdala calendar for 2010 and was a glittering affair!

Reviewed by William Ruff of the Nottingham Evening Post, as 'Life enhancing, committed, passionate. If ever there was a musical organisation that enacted its missions statement, then it's Magdala Opera... Well, that's quite an ambition, but no one in the Albert Hall on Saturday night could have doubted their energy, passion and whole-hearted commitment.'

Sponsorship

We have been delighted to enjoy the support of local businesses and other organisations through our corporate friends scheme or through sponsorship of concerts and other special events.

The nature of any sponsorship will depend on the objectives and the resources of the sponsoring organisation and we are happy to discuss the various ways in which the Magdala brand and its programme of activities can best be associated with each individual sponsor.

Potential benefits include:

  • Highly visible association with a Nottingham based community organisation that has achieved an enviable reputation for excellence in its field
  • Demonstrable commitment to corporate social responsibility through support for the Opera Start programme, bringing aspiration to schools and inner city communities
  • Opportunities to involve employees and encourage creativity with benefits in confidence, motivation, teamwork and results
  • Name and brand association with a unique performance in a special venue
  • Brilliant corporate entertainment by members of the Magdala Chorus and professional soloists

Our current Corporate Friends to whom we are immensely grateful are:

  • Gold          John Fish Exhibitions Ltd
  • Silver        Keith Simpson Associates

Tailored Sponsorship

An example of a recent very successful tailored sponsorship was with Nottingham law firm Freeth Cartwright who supported Magdala in seeking new singing talent through the Hidden Voices Competition, in partnership with BBC Radio Nottingham.

The competition was an opportunity for “ordinary” people with exceptional voices to demonstrate their potential, benefit from free professional voice coaching (through bursaries paid for by Freeth Cartwright) and, ultimately become members of the Magdala Chorus.

In addition to their own financial contribution, Freeth Cartwright were able to access significant added value through the New Partners scheme run by Arts & Business. In common with all successful partnerships, Hidden Voices delivered clear benefits to everyone involved.
