Magdala Receives Arts Council Funding
Magdala has learned that it has received £100,000
of Arts Council funding to support the charity's
expansion in the field of professional development,
schools workshops and arts based training.
This is the 4th grant received from the Arts Council
over the past five years, indicating its strong
commitment to ensuring Magdala's continued sustainability.
Michelle Wegwart, Magdala's Artistic Director said:
"We are completely bowled over and absolutely delighted
to receive this funding.
"It means that the exciting projects we have in
the pipeline can be transformed into reality to
create fresh opportunities for people."
The three main areas that the funding will support
are:
- Expansion of the Magdala teaching base through
professional development via a week-long 'Train
the Trainers' programme. Michelle will work intensively
on this pilot scheme with a group of her professional
pupils at the end of August to expand their teaching
skills.
- Development of schools workshops by building
on the existing programme in secondary schools
and introducing Opera Start into primary schools.
- Building on the relationship formed with schools
already involved in the Ashfield project to work
with teachers to enhance their continuous professional
development.
